“To be or not to be…that is the question…”

Well, it is a question but I got this question a lot from marketers, “To refund or not to refund”.
Now, I’ve sold tons of products on the internet — from big ticket items at $497 to small ones at $14.95. I’ve over 20+ niche sites, a few flagship product sites as well as my personal private coaching service. And trust me, I’ve received over one hundred of refund requests over the past four years I’ve been online on the internet.
Now, I’m not saying that my products are not high quality (in fact all of them are top-notch) but if you’ve been selling products online — you will know that there are some a-holes customers who will be asking for refund after getting all the info from your information products.
Let me give you an example, recently, I released a product in the site flipping niche and this guy immediately asked for refund after 20 minutes we launched the website. Being the content creator behind the product, I knew it takes at least 3 hours for anyone (even a fast skimmer…that’s right…a SKIMMER) to go through at least the whole product.
And guess what? The excuse this fellow gave me was: “Your product is bad…This is not suitable for me…Please refund me!”.
Alright, so, this guy is being un-cool.
So, I removed him from my customers’ list, refunded his money, blocked his access and I thought this dude is probably one of those “leechers”. And I was right.
This dude apparently has a blog and he stole the content from one part of my product and put it on his blog. Being an a-hole awesome man myself, I call this dude up and pretended that I was my lawyer. (by faking my voice)
This fellow removed his content right after that. He even confessed that he is still keeping my products and using it despite I refunded his money back.
Here’s a tip for you guys here: Always refund when people asked for it.
Don’t waste your time dealing with un-cool people. Most people who asked for refunds are usually people who want to get your product for free. And there’s no way to stop that. If you don’t refund them, these people will go around forums and chatrooms and bad-mouth your products — which will kill your credibility.

Haha! There will come a time when each of us might experience those things. As a web designer, the challenge are the “whining” customers or those who can’t explain themselves very well and demand for an instant output.
