The Problem With Spending Money on Learning

Being an entrepreneur-minded person, I’ve always see money as the most valuable and important thing in my business. Hence, no money means no business.

That’s probably what makes me so stingy when it comes to money.

Recently, I was reading an article written by a top scholar which discussed about “What is the ROI of the money spent in education?”.

(In case you don’t know, ROI means return on investment)

By education, this author is talking about tertiary education (college level) and how much people are spending every year to invest in education. So, does the investment in education pays off?

This is a question that never has an answer. For me, I ‘ve spent tens of thousands of dollars in education (college) and also thousands of dollars to buy make money online courses and many other motivation courses.

For me, to see if a ROI is high or low, that investment must return me with something. It could be an understanding. It could be a reward. It could be money. It could be anything.

And after 2 years in college, I realized that I learned nothing useful in college. Sure enough, I learned to meet people who are different from me. I also learned how to play new sports, how to go to nightclubs and where to find great food here in Malaysia — but that’s it!

I am a business major myself and I’ve spent thousands of dollars talking college courses about business. I even participated in psychology classes to learn about what people are thinking. The total money I spent in these two types of courses are close to $10,000.

Not long ago, I invested in two very, very expensive courses from two of the most reputable internet marketing gurus — and whatever they taught in their courses were put into play in my business.

The things that I learned in college business and psychology classes? They are pretty much irrelevant and not useful for me.

Over the years, a lot of people have been coming to me and ask me why do I still waste my time in college when I’m making more than a Ph.D.

Well, the reason is plain simple. I am young and I want to go through whatever the other people around my age are doing: whether it’s hooking up in a bar, playing some extreme sports or staying up late.

    Desmond you are right!

Age is your biggest assets in your hand and you should complete your degree study while this internet business can allow you to do it part time but earning full time income potential.

Making more than Ph. D and want to obtain are two different things here. Probably just for adding a label behind the name in name card. :)

Well… this problem had been say long before and everyone is fighting for it’s right. Now, I have a friend who is a teacher always said education is important, but I always tell her, hell no, education is only important till you know how to read, write and speak.

Once you know all this basic, the next stuff you need to learn is experiencing real world of living a life. I mean does any work in this uses “A” math? ya.. there is one which is a scientist work, but how many will go for this kind of career.

Sometime, is just that they can face the fact, I mean no matter what happen in life even if the fact sucks, you just had to face it, right?
