Internet Marketing

macA LOT of marketers (even some big ones) often asked me — how to learn to build a profitable website? Or to be more specific — where can you learn?

When I just started out with no money and don’t know what to do, I spy around SitePoint Marketplace (now Flippa) to see successful website sellers selling their site so I can see how they monetize their sites and how they generate traffic to their sites.

That was the only way I could afford to learn something on the Internet because at that time, I was so broke. But this method of learning is by far, the best and absolutely FREE!

Recently, my friend, Adeel Chowdhry who is a remarkable marketer just listed his most awesome product site ever, MassArticleControl (this product site has 900+ gravity on launch day — sending a ripple effect all over the internet that even non-gurus can achieve this result) on Flippa for sale.

Now, I don’t have the cash to pay Adeel for the website but I took the opprotunity to learn how I can duplicate the same success as Adeel’s with Mass Article Control.

Now, from the listing, Adeel says that he made $900k in revenue and $300k+ in profits. Now, at the time of writing this, the gravity for Mass Article Control on ClickBank is 304.46 — a reduction of 600+ in gravity which is normal since this product was launched in July 2009.

And it seems like Adeel and Bobby did not spend any efforts in marketing this site except through affiliates. Mass Article Control does have a cool affiliate center — so I’m not surprised by the number of affiliates making money from this.

OK, basically, you get my point. When you’re watching successful website like this here being listed for sale — it’s a perfect opportunity for you to eye what the marketers behind that website have done and this is literally the best FREE case study. You cannot get this elsewhere. Trust me.

About a month or so ago (can’t really remember), Jamie Lewis was selling CopyNProfit — which was another big ClickBank product and it went for a quarter of a million I think. I can’t remember this but it’s around that figure but the number doesn’t matter. What matters is that we get to know how the marketer make their site to become so successful.

So, if you want to learn from this perfect, “real-life” case study, just go to Flippa at Flippa.com and stalk some of the premium listings. You will see what I mean soon.

Cheers

P.S. I think MassArticleControl will go for $200,000. What’s your prediction? If you predicted correctly (before the listing ended), I will award you with a free domain name that I owned. ;-)

P.S.S. Just drop your prediction as a comment here.

You said $200,00 but think you ment $200,000 lol!

    Just a small error!

I think it will be about $250,000 but then there is the software maintenance so those added extra monthly, yearly costs too!

    You caught me. ;)

Yeah might even reach up to $300,000 since they have a good sales copy.

I agree with Tom. I reckon it will sell for around $250,000 which isn’t bad for a site that’s still bringing in plenty of revenue.

What interests me is not so much the website, but the marketing of the product. These guys got in to bed with some powerful affiliate hitters and got their launch promoted by several of their affiliates.

Yeah they do have some pretty sweet affiliates on board.

They got 944 for gravity on their first day which is just wicked.

Great post Desmond. I’ve been doing the same thing for quite a while whenever I’m looking for some new product/site ideas.

I could see the site reaching $225,000 easily.

Jamie Lewis’ copynprofit went for $238k so I could see this easily reaching that much.

Yeah Eric. This is the easiest way to know how a successful website functions.

I totally agree with your post! When I started out building websites, I got lots of my knowledge just from reading the listings on website marketplaces. I learned a lot about new advertising programs people were using, and where people were getting all their traffic from. I’d definitely recommend people to check out marketplaces to learn the inside scoop on what others are using, and what’s been effective.

    I think it’s worth about $200,000 – $210.000, but I think that it will go for $310,000
