“Most people give up just when they’re about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game, one foot from a winning touchdown.”
This is the sentence that I saw on one dude’s forum signature on WarriorForum which I find to be very motivational. I’ve seen people who gave up too early — probably days before they got their first sale — but they just gave up and run away.
Sometimes life doesn’t work like that. You need to be patience, never give up and determine to finish what you started.
Let me tell you a little bit about how I got to where I am today.
I can only describe my past self as – persistence. I have a strong determination and I believe that money can be made online and I can even be a millionaire through the Internet.
But at that time, I was earning less than $3 PER MONTH and these people were laughing at me:
- My teachers (even teachers who have HEARD of internet marketing)
- My friends
- Even my parents…
Not a single person around me believe that I could make money on the Internet because in their mind, there’s only scams and p*rn on the Internet. Or maybe just eBay and Amazon. Or maybe a few more like Google and MySpace.
Well, persistence is the sole reason why I am still in the Internet marketing space. I do what I believe in. I go for what I believe in. A year back, all my marketer friends were convincing me that there are no money left in the dating niche and that the competition was too high for a little Asian dude like me to jump in — I proved them wrong…over and over again.
At this time (while I’m writing this), I have two major college tests in a week’s time and I haven’t even been touching the books. I also have my first ever solo internet marketing launch, I am also earning money for my family as well as paying the most of the bills. I am going through the hardest time of my life. I gave up my social relationship and even a big part of my teenage life because I want to do what I believe in — making millions through the Internet.
Because when I make my first million, I want to go to all these people who laughed at me in the first place — and probably laugh back at them.
There is no reason for anyone to give up. I know a guy from Warrior Forum (who has the above quotes as his signature) called Yommys who is from Nigeria. We all know what kind of country Nigeria is famous for. But this guy fought against the odds and he made his first thousand dollar on ClickBank.
When I started online, people doubted me. Because of who I am. Because of my age. Because of my dreams. Because of where I’m from. But that didn’t change me. And I hope nothing can change your goals or your dreams.
Peace out.

Thanks for blogging about me Desmond. I really appreciate it. Being a Nigerian and an internet marketer is one of the weirdest thing ever. It is not only weird, it is very difficult.
What can be more frustrating when you made your first $100 online but you can not get the real cash because paypal will not all you.
Or what can be as frustrating as you making money only for paypal to discover that your country is not on their list and to freeze your account with all your money inside.
This are things I have had to deal with but thankfully I have people like desmond and the other successful warriors to look up to.
My advise to people who are still struggling is ” tough times never last, but tough people do”. For those who are experiencing some setback or failures ” setback is a setup for a comeback – a big comeback”.
Keep going and you will get there.

Yeah mate. I truly understand your hardship.
I’m a Malaysian and it took us years to have PayPal and ClickBank to give us an opportunity to really explore the Internet.

Great post Desmond,
I feel certain that you will achieve your long term goals, though I doubt that once you have achieved them you will then feel the need to laugh back at the unbelievers. Keep on going, forward is the only direction.

You guys deserve congratulations for sticking it out, especially Abayomi… making money from Nigeria…that
takes the cake!
I saw your signature in the Warrior Forum Abayomi but I
had no idea what you were up against… I must have received
hundreds of emails from Nigeria over the past few years!
